Battles
The miniatures are painted, the teams are assembled, and now it’s time to roll the dice! Welcome to the Battles section of Painting Your Way, where my painted armies and teams take to the tabletop in search of glory, victory and, occasionally, complete disaster. From hard-fought Blood Bowl matches and miniature wargames to solo adventures and new games I’m discovering, these battle reports capture the memorable moments, unexpected twists, ridiculous dice rolls and stories that make every game worth playing. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, tactical ideas or just want to see what happens when the miniatures finally get to fight, grab your dice and join me at the table!
After building the terrain and creating my own simplified wargame rules, I finally played my first solo game. It was a quick 1.5-hour battle that tested the rules, the teams and my ability to survive against the AI. I lost 8–11, but the game showed me what worked, what needed changing, and where I want to take the project next.
